Since I like to provide a window into my own reading experience with each book review, I’ve also sorted books by where I was when I read them. If I was in a cramped, dirty hostel in one of the most polluted parts of Borneo when I was reading Adolus Huxley’s Brave New World, I can probably be forgiven for leaving that book with a certain loathing (although, to be fair to Borneo, Brave New World may have been loathable under any circumstances). If I was sitting on a balcony overlooking the Pyrenees in France while munching on fresh chèvre and saucisson, it’s understandable that I fell in love with Barbara Savage’s Miles From Nowhere (an inspiration for many a good adventure!).
