10 out of 10

These books carry me into paroxysms of happiness.  I will read them a million times over and still be mightily impressed by the quality of the writing and awed/overjoyed/weepy/exaggeratedly emotional, even on the million-and-oneth time I read them:

Atwood, Margaret: The Blind Assassin

Austen, Jane: Pride and Prejudice

Drake, Barbara: What We Say to Strangers

Dunnett, Dorothy: Checkmate

Gaarder, Jostein: The Orange Girl

García Márquez, Gabriel: Crónica de una muerte anunciada

Kristof, Nicholas, and Sheryl WuDunn: Half the Sky

McEwan, Ian: Atonement

McKinley, Robin: Beauty

Robinson, Marilynne: Gilead

Tolkein, J.R.R.: The Return of the King

Woolf, Virginia: A Room of One’s Own
